Just Awful

January 27, 2010

In Soviet Russia, contract signs you!

Last night’s game truly lent to the term “Men vs. Boys”, although it is probably more aptly named “Men vs. NOTHING THAT RESEMBLES MEN” where the Oilers are concerned. Chicago really didn’t have to try. Sure, they’re good, and they have their way with most teams, but I would imagine Joel Quenneville has his team tuned in and ready to turn it up when they need to. Last night could have been point night, but the Blackhawks reeled it in and decided against a 9-2 drubbing. Maybe because they’re a classy bunch, or maybe because they already did that last year.

This is truly getting difficult to watch. I had the game recorded so I could watch it after a practice, and i was all excited-like to watch the exciting team from the Windy City, but the game really didn’t deliver the way it ought to have. Sure, I knew the Oilers would lose, but it was all I could do not to fast forward half of the second period.

At least I get to watch hockey in glorious HD. And I actually appreciated Peirre Maguire for a split second, he sounded as defeated as every Edmontonian when Garbagekov lightly handed a puck to a Chicago player. “Oh, Grebeshkov”, said Maguire, forlornly.

I feel forlornly.

I got to go to this game thanks to Joel – 3rd row, centre ice behind the penalty boxes – and it was just as bad live. Kane just doing circles in the offensive zone with Oilers chasing him like a bunch of 6 year olds following a soccer ball.

    But the beer was good.
